CBA helps small business

Small business clients banking with the Commonwealth Bank will get a helping hand with the appointment of Mary Ashkar, as a local business banker, who will be able to speak to these clients as the Westfield Parramatta and Ermington branches.

$290 million wish list

Parramatta Lord Mayor, Paul Barber, estimates that $291 million is needed for infrastructure works. He was speaking after NSW Planning Minister, Frank Sartor, has recommended that Section 94 contributions – money paid by developers to councils for infrastructure works – should be funnelled into government coffers instead. Council is reported to have $24.3 million from these contributions. Councillors engaged in a lengthy and vigorous debate on the issue at a council meeting.

Major upgrade for restaurant

Parramatta City Council has approved two DAs for a major upgrade of the Port Bar Restaurant, at the Charles Street RiverCat wharf. The works include the construction of a combined solid and glass awning fronting the Parramatta River, the construction of a platform as an extension of the roof terrace, construction of a curved metal deck roof above the first floor terrace and the construction of a stairway to the first floor terrace. The total estimated cost is $900,000.
