Pissible crackdown on migration agents

The dozen or so migration consultants in the Parramatta area are reportedly at risk of if a crackdown on the 3000 registered agents across Australia is carried out by the federal government. The Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Senator Chris Evans, who is about to receive an industry review, said there were concerns that the current system of self-regulation was ineffective and does not protect the interest of vulnerable people.

Albion Hotel ordered to provide assault data

The Albion Hotel, in Parramatta, is among 23 of the state’s most violent pubs and clubs ordered to hand over CCTV footage, documents relating to violent incidents, trading information and details on actions to reduce assaults, by the NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing. The Albion was ranked 14th last year in the list of the 100 most violent pubs and clubs in the state. Of the 23 premises on notice, 14 are in the metropolitan area with seven, 50 per cent, in Western Sydney. The Mean Fiddler, at Rouse Hill, was ranked first in the state with 51 assaults. In Parramatta, after the Albion, the Roxy Hotel was ranked 24 with 18 assaults, PJ Gallaghers was ranked 29th with 17 assaults and One World Sport was ranked 56th with 13 assaults.
