Parramatta. Rosehill recycled water scheme

The environmental assessment of the Rosehill recycled water scheme is on public exhibition until February 27. The various properties include the Fairfield Storm Sewage Treatment Plant, Rosehill Gardens Racecourse and Woodville Golf Course. The proposal includes the construction an operation of a recycled water project including a recycled water treatment plant with a capacity of 20ML per day and connection to the Liverpool to Ashfield Pipeline.

Parramatta. Customers asked not 'to panic'

Australian customers of Indian IT outsourcing firm Wipro Technologies, which has an office in Parramatta, have been not to panic after news emerged that it has been barred from working for the World Bank due to improper practices. The ban introduced 18 months ago has only come to light with a similar banning of Satyam, another Indian IT firm. Wipro’s Australian clients include Optus, ANZ Banking Group, AXA and General Motors Holden. Wipro opened its Parramatta office early in 2008 with 30 staff.

Ryde. $71 million Cochlear proposal approved

The Minister for Planning has approved the construction of a new Cochlear Global headquarters, at Macquarie University. The two-section building, with a maximum height of seven storeys, has a gross floor area of 24,343 square metres. The relocation from Lane Cove would enable Cochlear to further enhance its international reputation and also reinforce Macquarie University and the Macquarie Park Corridor as a specialist centre and hub for innovation, the proposal said. The proposal also said the development would have a capital investment of approximately $71 million and would employ approximately 1200 people.

Region. Transurban declines M7 purchase

Transurban has declined to purchase a 50 per cent stake in the 40-kilometre long Westlink M7 toll road, valued at $805 million, from Macquarie Infrastructure Group (MIG). Transurban already own half the toll road. The Australian Financial Review reports MIG will instead sell its stake into the Western Sydney Roads Group, which it will equally co-own with Queensland Investment Corp. It expects to finalise the sale by the end of March.

Campbelltown. Increase supply of cheaper homes

Edmondson Park was one of 33 affordable housing projects to receive first round funding from the Housing Affordability Fund, announced by federal Housing Minister, Tanya Plibersek. The commonwealth will contribute $1.5 million towards minor road and drainage works to lower the cost of building. Landcom would offer rebates, averaging $22,500, on 88 blocks out of the first 168 lots to be offered in the project to home buyers, with a total household income of less than $79,000.
