Katoomba. $10m investment in The Edge

Katoomba Japanese-owned Cosmos Group has invested $10 million in The Edge theatre complex at Katoomba. It will create 12 jobs in Katoomba and its Edge School Education Program will help teachers and students understand the cultural significance of the Blue Mountains to Aboriginal men and women. The Department of State and Regional Development advised the Cosmos Group of the strong business benefits of including Aboriginal heritage as an integral part of the refurbished complex.

More than 1,000 people attended 23 events and seven sites visits in various locations in Western Sydney and at the Parramatta Business Centre, during Western Sydney Manufacturing Week, in May.

Blacktown. City's strategic ambitions

Blacktown City Council has nine “trigger projects” in its Blacktown City 2025 strategic document, including Blacktown becoming a regional city, such as Parramatta Penrith and Liverpool, an internationally recognised motor sport cluster at Eastern Creek and the Blacktown Olympic Park providing a first-class venue for a range of sports in NSW.

Region. Revenue boost for TVS

Advertising revenue of the Sydney community TVS station, owned by the University of Western Sydney, is expected to increase to $1.5 million in 2009-10, up from $600,000 in 2008-09, according to marketing company, Stenmark Organisation. The monthly audience for TVS, operating from the UWS Penrith campus, is about one million and “growing; it’s attracting a loyal group of viewers,” Stenmark chairman, Damien Stenmark, said. Companies such as Harvey Norman, Telstra, Woolworths and Franklins advise on the station.

Parramatta. Legal services for AG's office

The Legal Representation Office, of Attorney General’s Department, based in Parramatta, seeks tenders for the supply of legal services. The primary objective of the tender is to establish a pre-assessed panel of legal practitioners to provide legal representation to persons summoned before a number of commissions
