Campbelltown. Property sold for $7.9 million

GEO Property Group has sold its Domayne Centre, in Campbelltown, for $7.9 million, to an undisclosed buyer. The price was consistent with the property’s written-down value as at June 30, according to The Australian Financial Review.

Region. Funds for council plans

Only two Western Sydney councils were included in the announcement by the Minister for Planning, Kristina Keneally, that 26 local councils in NSW would share $1.4 million in the Planning Reform Fund. Blacktown Council will receive $100,000 for the development of the Blacktown Local Environment Plan and Parramatta Council, in conjunction with Hornsby Council will receive $125,000 for the Epping Town Centre Study to explore Epping’s potential growth an an employment and residential centre.

Penrith. Car yard for medical centre

An owner-occupier has bought a car yard, in Penrith, for $1.2 million with plans to develop a medical centre on the 1595-square metre site at 36-40 Henry Street. The sale reflected a rate of $752 a square metre.

Region. Leasing of industrial space

Knight Frank’s Sydney Industrial Review, for August, notes industrial leasing in the Outer West region has remained firm with 190,439 square metres leased in 26 transactions in the first half of 2009, compared to 179,845 square metres recorded in 28 transactions for all of 2008. In the South West, 19 lease transactions, totalling 118,966 square metres, were recorded during the calendar year to July. This compares with 145,000 square metres leased in the whole of 2008. In the Inner/Central West region 77,083 square metres were leased in the first half of 2009, in 19 transactions, compared to 10 leases amounting to 23,787 square metres in the second half of 2008.

Region. UWS to set up clinical schools

The University of Western Sydney will receive almost $10 million from the Federal Government to establish additional clinical schools at Bathurst and Lismore in regional NSW for UWS medical students. The new funding will allow UWS to establish new training sites for UWS medical students in the Lismore and Bathurst regions. The first students will have the opportunity to study from mid 2010, and will spend twelve months in these communities. Recently the Federal Government earmarked $17.6 million for the UWS Blacktown Clinical School.
