Parramatta. Marshalls showroom for sale

The former showroom of Mercedes-Benz dealership, Marshalls Motors, on the corner of Church and Meehan streets, in Parramatta’s “auto alley’, will be auctioned on December 15. The property includes a 1600-square-metre showroom, large office area and parking for 70 cars, on a site of 5300 square metres gross. Marshalls, which has been in business since 1958, relocated to new premises across Meehan Street, on August 6. “This new building will lead the way in design and technology, for automotive dealerships around Australia,” said dealer principal, Meon Nehrybecki

Parramatta. Office building sold for $12.2m

A six-storey office building, at 20 Charles Street, in the eastern precinct of the Parramatta CBD, has been sold at Colliers auction for $12.2 million, on a yield of about 5 per cent. The building, on a site of 2230 square metres, has a net lettable area of 5382 square metres, with 164 parking spaces.

Region. Encouraging fresh ideas

Industry Minister, Kim Carr, is setting up a textile, clothing and footwear innovation network to encourage adoption of new ideas and practices an industry, which faces reduction to tariff protection from 10 per cent to 5 per cent in 2010. The textiles and clothing sector was the biggest loser in employment terms, in the decade to 2006, according to Professor Phillip O’Neill, of the Parramatta-based Urban Research Centre, in the University of Western Sydney. The region has had a long association with the industry dating back to the early days of the NSW colony, with textile manufacturers in Parramatta, Granville and Liverpool.
