Parramatta. Church as licensed premises

The former St Peter’s Uniting Church, on the corner of Church and Palmer streets, at the northern end of the CBD dining precinct, is for lease, with a total licensed area of approximately 800 square metres. Southern Cross Enterprises Group had proposed, a two-stage DA in 2008, to refurbish the heritage-listed church as a bar and restaurant and build a 4.5-star, 50-room hotel, on a hall at the rear of the church. Parramatta City Council refused stage 2 for the 13-level project.

Homebush. Collapse could affect DFO outlet

A key part of the DFO retailing empire has been crushed by up to $550 million in debt, throwing into doubt the future of the entire factory outlet chain. Banks are likely to appoint receivers Korda Mentha as early as today to South Wharf Retail, which owns South Wharf DFO in Melbourne.The collapse threatens to drag down seven other DFO stores, including the Homebush store, and a developer, Austexx. The stores and Austexx have guaranteed SouthWharf Retail's debts.

Castle Hill. Company in "financial dire straits"

The parent company of Gloria Jeans Coffee, co-owned by the Hillsong Church elder Nabi Saleh, is in ''financial dire straits'' and should be put into liquidation and an investigation held into its affairs, the NSW Supreme Court has been told. It is the latest shot fired in the multimillion-dollar lawsuit against the coffee giant's parent company, Jireh International, by a small US-based coffee supplier, Western Export Services, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.
