Parramatta. CBD boutique brewery approved

Parramatta City Council has approved a DA, submitted by TNT Issa Investments, seeking alterations and additions to the Port Bar restaurant, at the Charles Street wharf, for the installation of a 60-square-metre boutique brewery, which would produce approximately 500 litres of brewed beer per week for consumption on-site.

Camellia. Storage of green waste

Parramatta City Council has approved a modification to a development consent for an existing recycling yard used for building materials to allow the reception and storage of green waste, at 16 Grand Avenue, Camellia.

Region. WSROC welcomes $80m investment

“This is the kind of large-scale investment that Western Sydney needs,” said the Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils’ president, Clr Alison McLaren, on the announcement of the $80 million Wet ‘n’ Wild theme park to be established at Prospect. She said it would bring huge economic, employment and tourism benefits to the area. The venture would join other recreational attractions in the region including the Penrith Whitewater Stadium at Penrith, Eastern Creek Raceway and the Sydney International Equestrian Centre at Horsley Park.

Parramatta. Eight-storey building approved

The Sydney West Region Joint Planning Panel has approved a DA for an eight-storey mixed-use building, at 7-9 Victoria Road & 21 Sorrell Street, Parramatta. The application by Bookrill Pty Ltd involves the demolition of all structures and buildings and the construction of a building containing 53 units over 7 levels, 470 square metres of ground floor retail/commercial space and three levels of basement carparking over three levels for 70 cars. The value of the capital investment is $13.8 million. Bodene Pty Ltd owns the 1448-square-metre property currently occupied by the Bike Barn bicycle business.

The GPT Group said it has maintained its number one position, and improved its score in all categories, as the leader in the global real estate sector of the annual Dow Jones Sustainability Index. GPT said it leads more than 100 leading property companies from around the globe in this pre-eminent measure of business performance. The group said its award winning Rouse Hill Town Centre is a showcase example of an asset that closely considers the community in which it operates in addition to achieving significant eco-efficiencies from its sustainable design. In 2009, $3.8 million in operational savings were achieved at the centre, relative to a similarly sized traditional NSW shopping centre, with tenants, the environment and the greater community benefiting from its design. In addition to environmental measures, GPT also scored highly on a range of other leading business indicators such as employee satisfaction and stakeholder engagement.
