St Marys. Sold for $13.5 million

Station Plaza shopping centre at St Marys has been sold by private company, Playful, to property syndicator, Haben Retail Management, for $13,5 million. Annual income for the centre fully leased is about $1.46 million. The 1174-hectare site, is opposite St Marys station and bus terminal.

North Ryde. Centre officially opened

The Centre for Workforce Futures, at Macquarie University, has been officially launched. The innovative new research centre that will focus on workforce and workplace issues with application to public policy, industry and the community. The centre will have one of the largest concentrations of expertise in the Asia Pacific region.

Parramatta. Call for rail link

The NSW Opposition is calling on the state government to fund Sydney's rail link between Parramatta and Epping in next week's budget. The rail connection was a priority of the former Labor government, but has slid down the Coalition's list in favour of the North West Rail Link.

Parramatta. Sydney in 3D

Parramatta-based Regional Development Australia (RDA) Sydney, in conjunction with stakeholder groups has launched Virtual Sydney; a 3D interactive planning model that captures the entire Sydney Metropolitan area. The project provides a practical 3D model for metropolitan area that can be used to demonstrate and communicate the potential uses and benefits of ‘whole of city’ concept planning to key staff across federal, state and local government. “This is the first 3D model in Australia that encompasses the whole of Sydney region as opposed to just the CBD.,” said chair of Regional Development Australia Sydney, Alan Pendleton.

Region. Re-entering beer market

Speaking to investors during a tour of Coca-Cola Amatil’s Northmead and Eastern Creek plants, the company’s MD, of licensed beverages, John Murphy, said the company plans to re-enter the beer market when a two-year non-compete agreement with former partner SABMillier ends in December 2013.

Merrylands. Shopping centre opening

The grand opening of the $400 million, five-stage Stockland Merrylands is expected in the third quarter 2012. The 50,000-square-metre shopping centre will include major retailers, over 200 specialty stores and 3000 car spaces.

Region. Bunnings applications

The Sydney West Joint regional Planning Panel will consider, on June 14, an application by Bunnings Properties Pty Ltd for the demolition of existing structures, subdivision of one allotment into three allotments, erection and use of a hardware warehouse, on a 8.4-hectare site, at 316 Victoria Road, Rydalmere. On June 21, the panel will consider an application for a Bunnings Hardware store development, at Marsden Park. Capital investment value: $13.9 million.

Westmead. Rezoning proposal

Parramatta City Council will conduct two community consultation sessions following the receipt of a planning proposal from the University of Western Sydney seeking the rezoning of university-owned land, on the corner of Hawkesbury and Darcy roads, Westmead, for redevelopment from educational to office, retail and residential use.
